Up and Coming Contests posted by diana on 2009-11-25 21:25:55 GMT

Well it's been an exciting year so far for songwriting/film contests.

Themusiclibrary.org chose me to help judge the "Love Song to New Orleans" Song Contest" sponsored by Sonicbids and ADK microphones. We had so many great entries from around the world, there may be a Volume 2 cd and contest in the New Year. So stay tuned. It was a very tough contest to judge due to the quality of songs entered. Johnny Rodgers (pianist for Liza Minnelli's band was the first place winner)

We also want to thank the other judges, Midnight Music, David Vidal and Dan Marcus.
Visit the site for details as they emerge for next years contest. (http://www.lovesongtoneworleans.com)

Themusiclibrary.org had me coordinate and judge the short film contest "What Makes New Orleans Special to You?" hosted by the Sheraton New Orleans Hotel and promoted by the Louisiana Film Commission. We hope to continue this event in the new year as well. (http://www.youtube.com/lovesongtoneworleans)

The Woman's Freedom Songwriting Competition is in it's development stages and I have been chosen as a judge for this competition as well as music coordinator by Themusiclibrary.org We hope to add some more celebrity judges as the contest develops, so stay tuned! Visit the site at: http://www.womensfreedomsong.com for more details as they arise.

Love Song to New Orleans cd posted by diana on 2009-11-04 05:14:00 GMT

It's been a lot of fun lately promoting the Love Song to New Orleans cd I produced. I wrote the title track and through the contest we found a lot of awesome artists to add to the compilation. Juno winner Kenny Blues Boss Wayne lends a track and Jimmy Rip (producer of Jerry Lee Lewis's latest record) guest stars on the album.

You can order it online at: http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/dianawilliamson

ABC Good Morning New Orleans did a nice interview with me and artist Domenic Fusca played a song off the record.

WWOZ interviewed me for their radio show along with aritst Domenic Fusca and we had some great concerts in New Orleans, at the Jazz Historical Park, Check Point Charlies and Peaches Records.

Where Y'At are doing a review & Rootstime.be, and Jazz Radio "Second Line Parade" are playing the cd on their New Orleans radio show this weekend.

Happy New Year!

Trying to finish up the new album and just have a few more songs to record. I wanted to call it Travelling Light after the song I won at the Los Angeles Music Awards "Top Female Singer/songwriter of the Year, Triple A" but Queen Latifah and some other guy decided to call their new album Travelling Light. So back to the drawing board!

Heading off to Nashville in February for a publisher's workshop I got accepted in and I can't wait! Gonna pitch songs to the cowboys!

Queen Latifah's movie "A Perfect Holiday" picked the track I produced with (former Temptation - Ali Woodson) and jazz great Jeff Lorber "Remembering Christmas" so that has been fun...
